Kenyan human rights activist Boniface Mwangi is the winner of the 2020 Outstanding Youth Peace Maker Luxembourg Peace Prize.

The Schengen Peace Foundation and Luxembourg Peace Prize Announce Boniface Mwangi as the recipient of the prestigious award on Tuesday. The organizations bestowed the prize on the activist for his commitment to promoting social justice by calling out influential leaders for their corruption and human rights violation.

The 36-year-old human rights activist broke the news of on his Twitter handle. He said that he would receive the prize during the Luxembourg Peace Prize ceremony on May 28th 2021. The award ceremony will take place at the University of Luxembourg as part of the 5th Annual Transatlantic Dialogue.

The Luxembourg Peace Prize is an award that honors outstanding individuals in the arena of peace. According to the Luxembourg Peace Prize website, the awards underscore the aims of the World Peace Forum.

The website reads,

“Each year, since 2012, the Schengen Peace Foundation and the World Peace Forum award the Luxembourg Peace Prize, an award that honors the outstanding in the field of peace. The categories of the Luxembourg Peace Prize and their celebration amplify the aims and goals of the World Peace Forum”.
