Senator James Orengo once told Governor Stephen Sang and Senator Kipchumba Murkomen that a government eats its children and that the Uhuru administration would punish the two Ruto allies more that it punished the Raila Odinga wingman. They ignored.

Now, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has been dewhipped off the Senate Majority Leader Position by President Uhuru. Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has also been axed as the Majority Chief Whip.

The changes were confirmed following the just-concluded Jubilee Party’s Senate parliamentary group meeting at State House. Twenty senators from the Jubilee and KANU political parties attended the meeting.

Samuel Poghisio, Senator for West Pokot County and a KANU member, is now the elected Senate Majority Leader. Fatuma Dullo Adan, the Isiolo County Senator, will deputize Poghisio.

The Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata is now the elected Majority Chief Whip.

Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika are close allies to the embattled Deputy President, William Ruto.

In a news statement released by Kanze Dena-Mararo, the State House Spokesperson, President Uhuru Kenyatta has guaranteed the new Senate Leaders of his backing.

The changes, however, have attracted negative reactions from Ruto allies. Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said that the expulsion of Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika from the Senate Leadership reflected the rigging that Jubilee coordinated in 2013.
